Description:

This one-day presentation skills workshop is designed to allow people to learn presentations skills and get ample time to present and receive feedback all in one day. By keeping enrollment to a maximum of seven participants, each participant has the chance to present a minimum of three times to the group to apply skills learned in the workshop and receive feedback from the instructor and participants.

Don’t confuse this powerful day of learning with traveling one-day workshops that seek to pack hotel meeting spaces and deliver information to large groups without an opportunity to apply skills. This will be a true workshop where participants will immediately apply skills, receive helpful and specific feedback for improvement, and present again to incorporate insights from feedback. The class also includes one hour of follow-up phone and/or email personal coaching with the instructor to review tapes of presentations, assist in constructing a presentation, or discuss skill-building options in particular areas.

Workshop topics include:

  • Speedy ways to structure presentations
    • Mindmapping
    • Storyboarding
    • Outlining in PowerPoint
  • Structuring the presentation
    • Developing an open that will hook your audience
    • Creating the concise and powerful body of your presentation
    • Closing with power
  • Podium skills
    • Breaking the ice with your audience
    • Engaging the audience with non-verbals
      • Developing appropriate eye contact
      • Moving for energy and interest
      • Escaping the podium
      • Adjusting your energy and delivery to the topic and audience
    • Positive use of visual aids (PowerPoint)
  • Developing confidence and working with nervousness
    • Bringing your best self forward
    • A key thought to calm nervousness
    • Using breath to relax and create energy
    • Accepting and lessening nervousness
  • Presenting and receiving feedback
    • Finding and enhancing the strengths in your style
    • Discovering areas to improve
    • Planning for ongoing improvement

This one-day workshop will help a new presenter develop essential skills and confidence and will take experienced presenters to a new level.
